Anxiety and Panic
Experiencing fear is an inherent aspect of being human. While closely related to fear, anxiety differs primarily in that it manifests even when no tangible danger is present.
Anxiety is an element of the body’s inherent ‘fight or flight’ mechanism that enables us to respond swiftly to possible danger and is a normal human reaction to stress or perceived threats. While it is natural to experience anxiety occasionally, it can become overwhelming if it occurs too frequently or feels too intense.
When anxiety becomes excessive or prolonged, it can interfere with daily activities and negatively affect overall well-being. Anxiety can arise from anything ranging from a significant event or important change to something as straightforward as a job presentation or meeting new people.

What does anxiety feel like?
Anxiety can manifest through a variety of physical symptoms, including an elevated heart rate, muscle tension, dizziness, insomnia, hyperventilation, and an increased urge to urinate. These symptoms are primarily triggered by hormones released during the body’s fight or flight response.
How can you help with my anxiety?
I offer anxiety counselling to help individuals understand the root cause and manage the symptoms of their anxiety. I use various techniques, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), as well as psychodynamic and mindfulness-based interventions to help individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours and cultivate healthier ones.
I offer a safe and supportive space in which you can explore the underlying reasons contributing to your anxiety. Your therapeutic journey will help you promote self-awareness, emotional regulation, and the enhancement of resilience and this in turn will improve management and prevention of anxiety episodes.
At the end of my treatment, what will I be able to do?
Understand the triggers of your anxiety, recognise the symptoms, have established plan to overcome anxious thoughts, and feel in control of your life again.
